Here is a story from Stour Road Care Home prior to the pandemic.

In March the team at Stour Road Care Home put together a Mexican themed day for the residents to enjoy. In the lead up to the day, residents made decorations and rice shakers. Mexican day started with all of the residents having a go at breaking our pinata, and with the winning swing one of them managed to release all of the goodies! It was great to see so many residents enthusiastic and taking part.

The residents all enjoyed a delicious Mexican lunch where they had a choice of chicken enchiladas or three bean chilli both served with Mexican rice and home made guacamole followed by tres leche cake. The main activity of the day was our visit from Alpaca Adventures, both staff and residents loved them, everyone was able to have a stroke and ask any questions they had about the Alpacas.

The afternoon was good fun with music and movement using the rice shakers that had been previously made, several residents and staff were up dancing which was a lovely sight to see. The day wound down with Mexican coffee and churros replacing our usual tea trolley. Thank you to all the staff that worked on the day, and sported their moustaches, ponchos and sombreros, a special thank you to Jas who put together all the planning for the day and made it great, and to our executive chef Marc, for creating a tasty Mexican menu for us all to enjoy.

It really was a great day and we look forward to planning more themed days in the future.
