We would like to share with you some stories prior to the current COVID-19 outbreak.

At the beginning of March our sister home, Stour Road Care Home, kindly invited us to visit the alpacas on their Mexican themed day. Lisa, one of our care team, kindly made this possible by taking two residents in her car. They had a lovely time joining in with the other residents in stroking the alpacas and learning about their care from their handler. Their families loved the photos we took and we look forward to having them visit St Annes as soon as it is possible to arrange.

A few residents have also enjoyed going out on the bikes on one of the rare sunny days earlier in March, they were wrapped up in blankets with a hot water bottle to keep them warm and enjoyed a cup of coffee at Hengistbury Head whilst enjoying the sea views.

On another sunny day Lisa and Natercia took residents in their wheelchairs to the bowling green to sit and have an ice-cream at the cafe which they really enjoyed despite the weather being a little chilly. One of these residents lives very close to St Annes and she was able to go and have a look at her house and see how her front garden was doing, she hopes one day to be well enough to return home.

We have acquired a couple of new games for residents, a ball maze and a sensory matching game which they have enjoyed doing with encouragement from staff. The ball maze has proved to be quite a challenge.
We had a lovely surprise as a local flower shop kindly donated to us a variety of flowers for our residents to enjoy in the anticipation they they would have to cease trading for the time being. It was kind of them to think of us and they have brightened up the home.

The staff had an evening out earlier this year at the Arcado Lounge in Christchurch, it was nice to have so many staff attend and the food (and drink) was enjoyed by everyone. It has been great to see all the staff pulling together as a team and supporting each other as the pandemic was emerging.

A big thank to you all, please believe that you are greatly appreciated.

St Anne’s Nursing Home is beautifully located in Southbourne, near to local facilities, the beach and transport links.  The home is warm and welcoming, a fitting place that provides excellent care. It is a home from home of 17 residents. We are currently only open to essential visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please contact us for more information.
